Our Story

Necessity is the mother of all invention. And the HumanCharger® is no different. Motivated to find a remedy for the long, dark winters of their home in northern Finland, scientist Juuso Nissila and engineer Antti Aunio, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Oulu, launched the company “Valkee” in 2007.

Their goal was to develop an innovative, portable, bright light device designed to provide the benefits of sunlight on-demand. This revolutionary HumanCharger® device quickly gained attention for its unique approach to bright light stimulation, offering a portable and convenient solution for those affected by SAD and other emotional disorders.

Over the years, we have continued to refine the HumanCharger®, continuing the legacy of innovation and high quality, incorporating user feedback and expanding its reach to international markets. And now we’re bringing the HumanCharger® here to you in the USA!
