Our Story
Necessity is the mother of all invention. And the HumanCharger® is no different. Motivated to find a remedy for the long, dark winters of their home in northern Finland, scientist Juuso Nissila and engineer Antti Aunio, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Oulu, launched the company “Valkee” in 2007.
Their goal was to develop an innovative, portable, bright light device designed to provide the benefits of sunlight on-demand. They called it the “Valkee HumanCharger®”.
The revolutionary HumanCharger® quickly gained attention for its unique approach to bright light stimulation, offering a portable and convenient solution for those affected by SAD and other emotional disorders. Over the years, Valkee continued to refine the HumanCharger®, incorporating feedback from users and collaborating with researchers to validate its effectiveness.
Today, the company carries on the Valkee legacy of innovation and high quality, releasing updated versions of the HumanCharger® and expanding its reach to international markets. And now we’re bringing the HumanCharger® here to you in the USA!
